The rising 2319 m high, Erongo Mountain is not only home to a vast array of bird life, but also plant, reptile and mammals that are endemic or near endemic to Namibia. The Erongo Mountain is 65 km in diameter and stretches from Usakos to the town of Omaruru in the north. The Erongo Mountain range, just a few hours’ drive north-west of Windhoek, is a beautiful vicinity and a wonderful place to spend a few days of your holiday in Namibia, especially if you are a nature lover, bird watcher. The granitic mountain range is a volcanic region, originating some 150 million years ago. The volcano collapsed on its magma chamber, allowing the basin to fill with slow-cooling igneous material. The result is a hard granite-like core, which has withstood the erosion that washed away the surrounding rock. The Erongo Mountain is THE source for exceptional minerals such as aquamarine, topaz and fluorite and much more! Erongorus, Davib-Ost, Davib-West, Ameib, Brabant, Okondeka, Ombu, Tubussis, Anibib, Etemba, Bergsig are the famous places of discovery of mineral specimen in the Erongo Mountains. SOLD |
